Withings has been a market leader in smart health devices for years and today the company announced its latest launches, the Body Pro Cellular Smart Scale and Withings BPM Connect Pro Cellular Blood Pressure Monitor. With the added connectivity, Withings can offer a secure and ready-to-use transfer of patient data from home to healthcare professionals.
Existing Withings Body smart scales and BPM blood pressure monitors feature WiFi, Bluetooth and Apple Health functionality. And with the new Pro line, Withings aims to enhance the telehealth experience for patients by including built-in cellular connectivity.
Withings announced the new Body Pro Cellular Smart Scale and Withings BPM Connect Pro Cellular Blood Pressure Monitor to be sold directly to healthcare professionals in a press release:
Today, Withings, one of the pioneers of the connected health revolution, takes another step to bridge the gap between patients and healthcare professionals, introducing a new range of business-to-business cell-connected devices designed to eliminate major weaknesses of remote patient monitoring. The Withings Body Pro Cellular Smart Scale and Withings BPM Connect Pro Cellular Blood Pressure Monitor significantly streamline the telehealth process by operating directly, without the need for configuration, and automatically transmitting accurate and secure data to healthcare professionals.
Withings’ B2B Division Vice President Antoine Robiliard noted that the new Pro versions of these mobile health devices are all about eliminating friction so that anyone can use them and that healthcare professionals get constant access to data from the patients.
“For telehealth and remote patient monitoring to be successful for healthcare professionals, they must have access to continuous, reliable and accurate home data that is collected, transmitted and analyzed in a consistent and frictionless manner,” said Antoine Robiliard, Vice President Within the Business-to-Business Division, Health Solutions. “Connected health products have a central role to play. For optimal results, they must be easy for anyone to use, drive engagement, take medical-grade action, be used consistently by patients, and must autonomously transmit private and secure data. “
Like the standard version of these healthcare devices, Withings sees fast and accurate measurements with the Pro devices and that the new cellular integration and out-of-the-box connectivity with healthcare professionals is “fully HIPAA compliant.”
Another key piece of this is that healthcare professionals may be eligible for $ 1,900 per patient per year using Withings Pro devices for “chronic care management and / or remote patient monitoring.”
