A video showing a grandmother faced one of the toughest dilemmas – whether to save a glass bubble from the floor to the floor or to her own young grandson – has gone viral.
The answer for the woman in question, believed to be from the US, was apparently on the flute floor – and the hilarious clip shows the floor hurting the child while the glass of fizz survives, albeit with half its contents.
The video, titled ‘And Grandmother of the Year Award …’ was posted to Imgur earlier this week, and was already viewed more than six million times as it was also shared on Twitter.

I’ll have that! A video posted in Imgur this week indicated a curious reaching for a glass of wine, sitting at a coffee table in front of him. Her grandmother is supporting her with one hand around the waist – until she sees what he is about to do.
The glass is running out … but Grandma’s instincts kick in and she goes to save
However, it is not the alcohol that holds the baby … saves the glass, but also removes her helping hand in the process – sending the young child to the floor
The child is seen hitting the floor, while almost half the contents of the wine glass are lifted.
On Twitter, opinions on the woman’s actions were divided. While many said the grandmother should put the baby first, others defended her, stating that she could actually prevent another serious accident by stopping the glass from shattering.
In the brief clip, the child, wearing a navy stripe, reaches for his grandmother’s tall glass, which is sitting on a coffee table, against which they are leaning.
When the woman notices, she moves swiftly to take the glass out of the infant’s hand and is so consumed with protecting her contents, she removes her supporting hand from the child’s waist.
Oh baby! There is only one winner in the dispute between grandmother and child over a glass of wine …
Response: Opinion was divided on social media as to whether Grandma was right to save the glass, saying it could have prevented a more serious accident
The inevitable happens and the child falls sideways on the floor before appearing in the shot.
