Health officials expect an increase in Johnson & Johnson’s single-shot COVID vaccine in Illinois in the coming days, but where can you find it?
Although the state has not specified where the dose stream will be delivered specifically, there are already some places that offer the option of receiving the vaccine.

Jewel-Osco, for example, offers customers the option of choosing which vaccine they would like to book an appointment for, when available.
At the supermarket chain’s vaccine scheduler, customers can select whether to check their appointments with the Pfizer or Moderna two-shot vaccines, or with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
“Osco Drug Pharmacy offers customers a selection of vaccines based on the allocation they receive,” a company spokesperson told NBC 5. “We will add appointments for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as a supply becomes available.”
Meanwhile, Illinois announced Friday that it will send “Rapid Response Vaccination Teams” to five counties where epidemiologists “have determined that doses need to be administered quickly to mitigate rising trends,” the IDPH said. Those teams will administer Johnson & Johnson single-shot vaccines to residents in addition to what has already been allocated to counties.
Those counties are: Carroll, Ogle, Boone, Lee, and Whiteside. Details on dosages and how to schedule an appointment can be found here.

Residents can also keep an eye out for vaccination events or mass vaccination sites across the state.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker received his COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, where he said he was given a Johnson & Johnson injection.
Earlier this month, Aurora held a one-day mass vaccination clinic in partnership with Walgreens, where participants received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and Des Plaines launched a mass vaccination site that initially delivered the single-shot vaccine.
According to Pritzker, doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are expected to increase considerably in the coming days.
“We expect to see a significant number, millions of doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine beginning very soon in the next few days,” the governor said during an unrelated news conference on Friday. “And then hopefully a sustained increase at Johnson & Johnson and we continue to see a rise at Pfizer and Moderna.”
