Coronovirus is causing havoc around the world. There are 28.8 million confirmed cases claiming 920K. The COVID tally in India has crossed the 47 lakh mark today. India recorded its largest single-day total of 97,570 new patients on Saturday.
Everyone is looking for a vaccine that can bring life back to normal. More than 170 teams of researchers are racing to develop a safe and effective vaccine. Vaccines typically require years of testing and additional time to produce on a scale, but scientists have fast-tracked the process of developing a coronavirus vaccine within 12 to 18 months.
Nine of these vaccines are currently in large-scale efficacy trials and are likely to be the first of these vaccines. If the tests are successful and necessary approvals have been obtained, these nine vaccines will arrive before the end of the year. Another eighteen vaccines are under extended safety tests (Phase 2).
A total of nine vaccines (Phase 1) in small-scale safety tests. There are 142 vaccines in pre-clinical trials that are not yet in human trials. India’s indigenous vaccine is in COVAXIN phase 2 trials developed by Bharat Biotech. It is expected to come early next year.
