Wendy Williams told viewers of her show on Wednesday (Feb. 21) that she would have to take a three-week leave ordered by a doctor, due to her battle with Graves' disease.
"My doctor has prescribed … are you ready? Starting today, three weeks of vacation," he told his fans, conveying his initial reaction to medical advice: " What? Who are you? ? I was angry. "
Graves' disease causes an overstimulation of the thyroid, which causes symptoms such as an enlarged thyroid, thinning of the hair, anxiety, fatigue and high blood pressure.
Williams canceled several shows last week, after taking social media to announce that she was suffering from flu-like symptoms. The host spoke to the magazine People about his current battle with Graves' disease in July 2017, and in October 2017, Williams collapsed in the air, and then explained that it was due to "overheating".
