After picking up a cappuccino, I handed in the Android demo phone, thanked the Google team and went back to the Business Insider office.
Without knowing exactly where I was in the financial district of San Francisco, I felt I craved the AR map function.
Although I knew that, in general, I was going in the right direction, the AR function made it so easy to get a quick "validity check" that was correct.
Although the graphics were a little clumsy at times, the "alpha" version of the application generally worked without problems and the user experience seemed to be very successful.
While Google will not disclose an official release date, I would be surprised if a broader implementation would not arrive very soon depending on how close the feature felt to the full one.
And I hope it's true, because after using only the AR function in Google Maps for a walk of less than a mile, I already miss it.
