American Crime Story is about to get modern.

The trailer for the second season of the true crime TV collection dropped Wednesday, and focuses on the loss of life of Italian clothier Gianni Versace.

Directed by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story), the present stars Darren Criss as Versace’s killer Andrew Cunanan, who shot the designer on the steps of his Miami villa on July 15, 1997.

The trailer reveals the glamour of Versace’s life and profession alongside Cunanan’s murderous plans.

Cunanan, who seems to be a standard 20-something at the start of the trailer, shortly turns horrifying as a police scene reveals he has already murdered four males on a killing spree.

“This world is wasted on me,” Cunanan says chillingly within the trailer. “Yet this world also made you, Mr. Versace, into a star. You’re not better than me, we’re the same. The only difference is that you got lucky.”

A blonde Penélope Cruz performs Versace’s sister, Donatella Versace, who took over the style home after her brother’s loss of life.

“He was a creator, he was a genius,” she says. “I will not allow that man, that nobody, to kill my brother twice.”

The Assbadination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story premieres Jan. 17 on FX.
