WASHINGTON, DC – White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is scheduled to deliver a briefing for reporters on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 Eastern Time. You can watch a live broadcast of the information below.
Sanders' briefing comes a day after President Trump officially backed Roy Moore to the seat in the Alabama Senate for a special election on December 12. Moore, accused as a child of sexual abuse and sexual assault, as well as inappropriate behavior towards many other young women, has become a divisive figure in the Republican ranks. The Republican National Committee, which initially withdrew its Moore funds in the wake of the allegations, decided Monday night to begin financially supporting its campaign again.
After the accusations first appeared, the president seemed to stop supporting Moore, and Sanders said the election would depend on the people of Alabama. Now that Trump has intervened with an official endorsement again, Sanders will surely face questions about his reasoning and justification for this support.
"I think it's going to be great," Trump said on Tuesday according to Ken Thomas of the AP. . "We do not want to have a liberal Democrat in Alabama, believe me."
