Walz to Announce Expansion of Immunization Eligibility for All Minnesotans 16 Years Old and Older Friday

Walz’s spokesman, Teddy Tschann, issued the following statement:

“Tomorrow, Governor Walz will announce that all Minnesotans 16 and older will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine beginning Tuesday, March 30. The final expansion in eligibility comes as the federal government has promised an increased supply of vaccines for April and Minnesota has become a national leader in getting gun shots fast. This week Minnesota ranked No. 1 in the country for the percentage of vaccine doses administered to Minnesotans. The state has vaccinated 80% of our seniors, outnumbering the nation, and has also vaccinated at least two-thirds of our school and child care staff. ”

“Continuing to deliver on the commitment to immunize for impact, the Walz-Flanagan Administration will direct providers to prioritize vaccine appointments for older Minnesotans, those with underlying health concerns, and those in front-line jobs. Providers will have the flexibility to make available appointments to other eligible Minnesotans. “

“We have worked hard to vaccinate Minnesotans earlier than we originally projected, and we have made great progress in delivering vaccines to Minnesotans who need them most. Now is the time to vaccinate as many Minnesotans as quickly as possible to end this pandemic. “

Walz will address the announcement on Friday at 11:30 a.m. M.
