Wal-Mart Stores is abandoning a 48-year habit, the script on its behalf. He also abandons the word "stores."
Recently, the retailer also reached an agreement with Lord & Taylor, giving the departmental store dedicated space at Walmart.com.
Dash aside, the retailer hopes to keep his famous applause McMillon said in a company blog post on Wednesday that employees who incorporate the Walmart "in the form of a scribble" in their ovations, can continue to do so. "It's important to have a little fun at work, so for our associates in countries where their ovations call for the squiggly, keep doing it!"
The formal legal name of Walmart when it was incorporated in 1969 was Wal-Mart, Inc. It changed its name to Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in 1970 and kept that name in place until now. The legal change to Walmart Inc. will take effect in February 2018.
