Update: The University Medical Center said that all its latest vaccination appointments were booked within five minutes of online registration at 12:30 pm on Saturday afternoon. There are currently no more spots available.
Original Report: EL PASO, Texas – The University Medical Center said on Saturday that it had now received 5,000 more doses of the coronovirus vaccine that it would soon deliver to a new mega-site in the El Paso County Coliseum.
Registration on UMCelpaso.org will open at 12:30 pm on Saturday at noon at UMCelpaso.org for those in state immunization categories 1A and 1B, including health workers, first-responders, those over 65 or some other underlying health conditions.
The website will only accept registration until all open appointments have been determined. After that point, the site will cease access.
This marked the third batch of 5,000 that was sent to the UMC to be given to the public. The last time UMC received a shipment and took appointment registration online, all slots were filled within 12 minutes.
In addition to receiving 5,000 additional doses to the UMC, a similar shipment was scheduled to arrive at the El Paso Health Department. Like UMC, the city of El Paso is also providing public vaccine distribution on a mega-site; The city site is near the airport and pre-appointment registration is available at EPCovidVaccine.com or by calling 21-COVID (212-6843).
