UFC 254 Weight-In Results: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gethej Officer; Two early fighters lose weight

The long wait to see the Khabib Nurmgomedov fight Justin Gathje is almost over.

The UFC 254 main event has now become official as both fighters made a light boundary during a wait-in from Abu Dhabi on Friday.

NFCmagomedov stood behind a towel to reach the 155-pound limit, the first UFC lighting champion on this scale.

The undefeated Russian has experienced weight-cutting issues in the past, so Narmamgomedov was certainly relieved to successfully come in at 155 pounds for a title fight.

Nurmagomedov looks to defend his title for the third time in a row when he faces Gethje, tying the all-time record in the UFC Lightweight Division.

As Gethje, he followed Nurmgomedov nearly 20 minutes later, and he came in at 155 pounds on Saturday, attempting to become the undisputed lightweight champion on Saturday. Gethje won an interim lightweight title in May with Tony Ferguson in the fifth round TKO.

Gethje has won his last four fights overall, eliminating all of his opponents by knockout or TKO.

While Nurmagomedov vs. Gaethje is now official, former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler also hit the scale for the first time at the UFC on Friday.

Chandler made 155 pounds on the dot as Nurmagomedov or Gethje were unable to compete on Saturday. Originally, Chandler was offered a fight to compete in UFC 254, which was optional for the main event, but an opponent could not be secured on time.

In the co-main event, former middleweight champions Robert Whitaker and Jared Cannonier both weighed in. The winner of their meeting potentially gets a title shot against Israel Adesanya. Whitaker was at 186 pounds, while Cannonier came in at 185 pounds for a highly anticipated middleweight performance.

While all four fighters in the main and co-main events are official, the two preliminary card athletes on Friday were overweight.

Alex Olivera came in at 173 pounds – two pounds over the limit for a non-title welterweight fight – as he faces Shavak Rakhomonov. Meanwhile, Joel Alvarez was at 159.5 pounds, giving him three-and-a-half pounds at light range for his clash with Alexander Yakovlev. The exact information for Mrs. was not immediately available.
