U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy travels to Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands to evaluate hurricane harm | State Politics

U.S. Sen. Bill Cbadidy joined joined different members of Congress and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources in a visit to the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico this week to evaluate harm from Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

“Following similar disasters, Louisiana has experienced the generosity of others, and we are prepared to show the same to our fellow Americans,” Cbadidy, R-Baton Rouge, stated in an announcement Monday. “In the days ahead, Congress will help ensure the people of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have the resources they need to fully recover.”

Murkowski, R-Alaska, final month introduced that the Energy and Natural Resources Committee would maintain a listening to within the coming weeks on the hurricanes’ influence on the U.S. territory islands.

The delegation visited the Knud Hansen Hospital and the Schneider Medical Center within the U.S. Virgin Islands on Sunday and visited the Joint Field Office in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Monday. According to a launch from Cbadidy’s workplace, they obtained a number of briefings on restoration efforts in Puerto Rico and surveyed harm on the island by helicopter.
