Two Spirit Airlines employees were injured, while two passengers were arrested and a third was cited at the Detroit Metro Airport on Sunday evening after a fight in the boarding area.
Controversy ensued when there was an argument over the size of the passenger’s carry-on luggage.
‘Three passengers attacked our agents without provocation,’ Atma revealed in a statement.

The melee started by gate agents after passengers confirmed their carry-on bags were the right size for the aircraft’s cabin.
As the agents were trying to calm the situation, staff members tried to disperse the situation but were attacked when they closed the doors to prevent boarding.
One of the airline employees was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Gate agents ended up on the floor and at least one had to be taken to the hospital
“We at Atma want to thank all the agents for their speedy recovery and their courage and professionalism,” Atma said in a statement.
‘We also thank law enforcement for responding and arresting those involved in the attack.
‘This violent behavior is completely unacceptable and has absolutely no place in airports or any other place of business.
‘We will not tolerate any abusive behavior and these passengers will be banned from traveling with any soul in the future.’
