Two extra senior officers on the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) are out on account of an ongoing investigation into the union’s issues with badual harbadment, BuzzFeed studies.
SEIU “Fight For 15” marketing campaign chief Kendall Fells resigned, whereas Detroit chief Mark Raleigh was fired. Both left the union Thursday.
“These personnel actions are the culmination of this stage of the investigation which brought to light the serious problems related to abusive behavior towards staff, predominantly female staff,” an SEIU spokeswoman advised BuzzFeed.
SEIU government vice chairman Scott Courtney left the union in October after seven ladies who labored with him spoke to BuzzFeed about his historical past of sleeping with staffers. Staffers who slept with Courtney had been promoted quickly after, BuzzFeed reported on the time.
One former marketing campaign organizer described a “broad environment of misogyny” on the SEIU when speaking with the Washington Free Beacon in October.
“Most HR processes for investigating badual harbadment [represent] a culture of protecting the organization,” she mentioned, describing the response to her reporting administration for harbadment.
More than a dozen present and former SEIU staffers have now advised BuzzFeed that badual harbadment has been endemic within the group’s tradition. The union has fashioned an exterior advisory group to badyze potential violations of the union’s nepotism and ethics coverage.
“[SEIU President Mary Kay Henry] has taken important steps toward ensuring that our workplace environment reflects our values, and that all staff is respected, their contributions are valued, and their voices are heard,” the SEIU spokeswoman mentioned.
