It seemed that Twitter could, after all, allow users to edit their tweets over a longer period of time. Users started watching it from Sunday afternoon: If you delete a tweet reply, try to reply again, the text “Deleted” appears again, allowing you to fix any mistakes And can send it again. The ledgeTom Warren showed how it works:
But on Sunday evening, a Twitter spokesperson gave us the sad news that this is just a bug.
Hey Tom – Unfortunately, we are not doing this test. This is a bug and we are seeing it.

Editable tweets are something that Twitter users have saved for a long time, and have begged to implement Twitter. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey says on record that Twitter will probably “never” introduce the “edit button”. However, Twitter has recently rolled out other desirable features, including making its reply-limited feature available to all users, as part of the platform’s efforts to give people more control over their interactions.
We’ve reached out to Twitter for more information and will update this post upon hearing anything.
Updated September 13, 12:16 AM ET: Added that “unfortunately,” Twitter is not actually testing an editing feature, but rather eliminating a bug.
