The third “Spider-Man” movie has its official title: and it’s not “Phone Home,” “Home-Wrecker” or “Home Slice.”
The true title of the latest installment in the superhero franchise is “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” star Tom Holland revealed on social media Wednesday morning. Holland and his co-stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon appear in a 30-second clip, which begins with Holland leaving director Jon Watts’ office and lamenting that he was given a fake title for the film.
“He gave us a fake name again … I just don’t understand why he keeps doing this,” Holland asks.
“You do not understand? I feel like it’s pretty obvious. You screw things up, ”Batalon jokes, poking fun at the star’s reputation for sharing details from superhero movies before they become public knowledge.
“I don’t spoil things. Name me one thing I’ve really screwed up, “Holland replies, while Zendaya replies,” The latest movie title. “
The camera then zooms in on a white board displaying a series of potential titles, with “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in the center.
The Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios film will open in theaters on December 17, 2021.
On Tuesday afternoon, Holland and his “Spider-Man 3” co-stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon posted never-before-seen stills from the upcoming film and announced three different titles.
Holland read “Phone Home” in reference to the 1982 movie “ET”, Zendaya was “Home Slice” and Batalon introduced the title “Home-Wrecker”. Given that the first two Spider-Man movie titles have incorporated the word “Home,” it seems the actors were finding the most ridiculous options involving the word and running with them. Fans soon found out that they were being trolled because of the cast’s dry captions.
“Very excited to announce the new Spider-Man title. I can’t wait for you all to see what we’ve been up to, ”Holland wrote.
“We are so excited to share the TITLE of our new movie !!” Batalon said, adding a lot of emojis. “Swipe right to see the big reveal!”
“I am very excited to announce the new Spider-Man title,” wrote Zendaya. “Very proud of this … FOS is back!”
