Toilet paper could face a new shortage


A shortage in the availability of shipping containers could lead to another toilet paper shortage.

Suzano SA, the largest producer of wood pulp, used in the production of toilet paper, tells Bloomberg that the global creaking of shipping containers could clog supply lines.

The coronavirus created a toilet paper shortage at the start of the pandemic, as consumers turned to panic buying and storage.

Demand for steel ribbed containers threatens to delay shipments, CEO Walter Schalka said in an interview.

The company’s concern is that a support in March shipments could extend into April.

Brazil is the main pulp producer and Suzano accounts for a third of world supplies.
