Tiger Woods’ disastrous second round knocked him out of the US Open

MAMARONECK, NY – The look on Tiger Woods’ face on Friday in the second round of the US Open at Winged Foot told you everything you should know. Then whether it was on a rough path or following a poor approach into the greenside bunker or standing on another wayward drive as the previous para put into the green hole, the look was the same.

The woodcutters were disappointed. His face said as much.

When it was his day, he had his time at the US Open. Woods scored 7 overs 77 and missed the cut for only the fourth time in the event.

Starting from the 10th hole, he missed the beat in Para-3. It never really got better.

Here’s how an ugly day is just getting ugly:

Number 10: Par 3, 214 yards

Not exactly the shot you dream of starting the US Open round: 220-yard par 3, swirling winds, chill temperatures. Tiger goes long, but rolls in a great flop shot and put to save a crucial par just outside the gate.

Tiger with a lapse in 12th place. Birdy had a good luck and by put slide. It’s still up to par, but if you have a chance to take a shot, you won’t waste it on winged feet here today.

The 13th green has some serious slopes. Tiger Woods was on the wrong side of the hill. There was an up-and-over-down put, but navigated it safely for a fourth straight par. He looks far more comfortable in this round than he did on Thursday.

Official cut clock time: Tiger Woods gets a break after missing a fairway in the 16th over after taking a free drop from the hoof caused by a sprinkler.
