This week Apple officially set the stage for its Virtual 15 event. Almost immediately after the invitation was sent with the tagline “Time Flies”, reports suggested that the iPhone 12 would not be announced during the event. Instead, Apple’s September 15 performance will focus primarily on Apple Watch and the rumored iPad Air 4.
Also after the September 15 incident, Apple released iOS 14 beta 8 for developers and public beta users. This may be the last beta release before the release of the Golden Master of iOS 14, and we expect more information on the iOS 14 stable release during Tuesday’s schedule.
You can find a complete roundup of everything to expect for the event on September 15.
Elsewhere, Apple made several changes to its App Store review guidelines this week. The new guidelines formalize the requirements for streaming sports services on the App Store, in which each game must be presented individually in the App Store. Other changes center on in-app purchases, app clips, and more.
The peloton has revealed a new bike + this week featuring Apple’s GymKit platform. With GymKit Integration, Apple Watch users can simply tap the display of the Peloton Bike + and basically start workouts and track heart rate and calories. You can find out more about the Peloton Bike + Over at our new 9to5Mac sister site Connect the Watts.
Finally, there continues to be evidence to suggest that Apple is planning a bundle of its subscription services called “Apple One”. 9to5Mac and 9to5Google found references to the Apple Music app for Apple One and Android in iOS, respectively. We can learn more about Apple One as soon as possible on Tuesday.
