This $ 35 accessory can save MacBook buyers hundreds of dollars

Whenever I buy a new MacBook, I see the prices that Apple charges for storage and my jaw drops. Sure, over time, you get more for your money, but the prices are always eye-watering.

A look at the 16-inch MacBook Pro. It comes with 1TB of storage, but if you want to upgrade it to a 2TB drive, the extra 1TB will cost you $ 400.

Or, to put that other way, if you use that drive to permanently store, say, a 4GB video file, that space costs you $ 1.60.

I’m in the market for a new MacBook Pro, because my existing one is a bit tired (and the warranty will expire soon), so I’m looking at what Apple has to offer. I’m looking at storage as well, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I can unload too much stuff on external storage. Sure, it’s not as convenient as built-in storage, but I don’t have to spend $ 1.60 for every 4GB of CAT video.

Now, external drives are cheap, but they are not really portable, so I want something smaller.

So, I went with the SanDisk 256GB Ultra Dual Drive, which is a flash drive consisting of retractable USB-C and USB-A connectors. It is small, versatile, reliable, tough (it’s stunning on my key for weeks and is very much like new), and at $ 35 for 256GB, it’s very cheap.

On top of that, 4GB of cat video is only storing $ 0.50.

I have also been added that this drive works on the USB-A port as well as my Android device and iPad Pro.

This allows me to write speeds of around 55 MB / s to the real world, and read speeds of about 145 MB / s. This is peanut compared to the SSD speed in my current MacBook Pro (about 1,720 MB / s write, and 2,700 MB / s read), but as a cheap portable storage, it’s a great solution, and reliably cloud storage Better (especially with large files when on the move).

Read / write performance

It’s the best budget flash drive I’ve used in a long time, and I have no problem trusting it with all my favorite cat videos (but just to be on the safe side, I have backup!).
