The Flathead City-County Health Department says the new deaths are linked to a recent COVID-19 outbreak at a long-term care facility.
The total number of deaths related to the facility is now 10.. The last six deaths occurred at Whitefish Care and Rehab.
The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) first confirmed to MTN News on August 25 that a COVID-19 outbreak occurred at the center.
This long-term care facility remains a major outbreak, with more than 75% of residents testing positive for COVID-19 released on the morning of August, according to a news release Friday morning.
According to FCCHD, the specific death rate of COVID-19 for this outbreak is 19% for the August 10 time period.
“We extend our condolences to all the families and friends affected by these deaths,” said Tamale St. James Robinson, interim health officer of the Fleethead City-County Health Department.
A total of 13 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in Flathead County.
