There are about 20 coronovirus outbreaks in the Ranoch Valley, causing an increase in cases

Raun – The Virginia Department of Health said that coronovirus cases are increasing in the Roanoke City and Allegany health districts.

During his weekly update, Dr. with the Virginia Department of Health. Molly O’Dell discussed hospitalization, deaths and outbreaks in the Roanoke Valley.

As of Tuesday, 18 outbreaks occur throughout the region, 10 of which are in a business setting.

Odell said that the lack of enforcement on COVID-19 guidelines at the workplace has led to an increase in cases and outbreaks.

“We have explored business practices for screening and socially distancing and adherence to the use of face-covering,” O’Dell said.

He said that the growth happens in bad times as health officials also start preparing for the flu season.

These two health districts include the cities of Covington, Ranoke and Salem, and Alleighney, Botetourt, Craig and Roanoke.
