The woman is at risk of blindness after failing to remove her mascara, horrifying photos are thrown to awaken the conscience

According to a new report, an Australian woman developed serious eye problems that could have left her blind.

When lubricating gels and eye drops did not alleviate her continued eye irritation, Theresa Lynch, a 50-year-old mother-of-two, sought the advice of ophthalmic surgeon Dr. Dana Robaei. What the doctor discovered was different from everything he had seen in his life.

Theresa had a habit that many women share, although maybe not until this point. She was not diligent about removing her eye makeup at bedtime. Daily Mail reported that, after failing to wash his mask for nearly half his life, the lower part of Teresa's eyelids collected solid black lumps that were embedded in the skin under her eyelid.

Mrs. Lynch worried when the uncomfortable and gritty sensation gave way to shock and swelling. He was shocked to discover that there were actually "calcified lumps, known as concretions, under his eyelids." Theresa said that when the doctor threw back his eyelid to observe the problem, he exclaimed, "My God, in all my career, I had never seen anything like this."

She was surprised by Dr. Robaei's findings and was very concerned about the permanent damage to the eye. Realizing that the calcifications were a serious risk, which could cause her to completely lose her vision, Theresa immediately underwent a procedure to remove the lumps. The removal of dark and calcified lumps lasted 90 minutes.

In an interview, Theresa Lynch explained that she had fallen into the habit of not washing her mask and admits that she should never have let it get so bad.

"It is very important to remove makeup properly every night, you can not miss a single day".

In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of proper makeup removal, Dr. Dana Robaei wrote an article about the case of Theresa, who agreed to publish the photos demonstrating how dangerous mascara can be left in our eyelashes

Live Science reported that the doctor Lynch revealed the dark lumps under the eyelid were actually caused by a buildup of mask that had found its way under the cap and under his skin.

"The lumps were embedded so deeply that the particles accumulated on top of each other, I was so uncomfortable, my eyelids were swollen and heavy because I left it for so long."

Dr. Robaei confirmed that Theresa now has permanent scars on the eyelid and cornea. In addition, she said there are not enough women who treat mascara removal seriously and implore women of all ages to practice a strict makeup removal routine.
