According to a report, a distracted woman allegedly harassed her 1-year-old daughter in the lobby of a five-star hotel in Kazakhstan after she was allegedly beaten by her father, a British pilot. The video has surfaced.
Medina, 23, pleads for help from staff at the Intercontinental Hotel in Almaty as she places Sophia at the reception counter on October 24, 2019, East 2 West News reported.
The frantic woman, a Kazakh, falls to the floor and is helped by a security officer who calls for an ambulance. He is then seen carrying the child on a couch before a heart-wrenching video.
“He killed my child!” He killed her! “According to the evidence provided by the hotel personnel, Medina yells at her husband Mohammad Barakat, 41-year-old, citing a subsidiary of Hong Kong Airlines as captain of the Airbus A330.
The report stated that the woman later quashed an earlier statement, saying: “I do not believe my husband killed our daughter because there were no reasons and motives.”
According to the news outlet, the father, who is on trial and not guilty, told the court that the girl died in an “accident” in the hotel room when she suffered an epileptic seizure. “
Barkat said doctors in Hong Kong and Malaysia involved in his medical examination knew that he had been suffering from epilepsy for a long time – even though the condition is often a reason for not being granted a pilot’s license.
He told Judge Bakhshikhan Bakirbayev – who questioned him about Sofia’s “multiple effects” – that he had an epileptic seizure, causing him to be at risk after a car accident in London around 1996–97.
“I had a seizure. I do not remember what happened to Sophia, ”he told the judge. “When you were in a seizure, you are asking me to give you information but I cannot give you any information.”
Barkat said that “there was no possibility that I ever injured a single hair on his head.” Conscious or unconscious, I will never hurt my daughter.
He also denied being in an intoxicated state after going out at night or taking an “illegal substance” as he suggested he may be on drugs between flights in Almaty.
Medina’s testimony suggested that her husband had put a heap of cannabis in the hotel room prior to the tragedy – although investigators found no evidence of this – and had used cocaine.
The pilot also alleged that a senior investigator tried to bribe him, demanding $ 60,000 to “re-investigate the case” – switching the murder charge to cause the child’s accidental death, East 2 West Reported.
In the new footage shown in court, Barak is also seen taking Sofia to the hotel with Medina a day earlier. The video ends with a drug runaway with a girl, who was soon declared dead.
Receptionist Marjan Ilyas called the girl “always smiling” before her violent death.
Barakat, who previously worked as a pilot for the low-cost Malaysian airline AirAsia, faces a prison sentence of up to 20 years if convicted of murder.
Sources in Kazakhstan have denied his recent claim in court that he went on hunger strike.
His employer has not responded to a request for comment by East 2 West News.
