The three new Sony phones for CES 2018 take 120 degree selfies

The Sony Xperia X2 arrives at the end of January in blue, black, silver and pink.

Sony has a trio of new Xperia phones designed to fit more of the world around him in his selfies.

Unveiled at the annual CES 2018 show here in Las Vegas on Monday, the Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra and L2 feature a camera that can shoot selfies from 120 degrees to 8 megapixels. (The XA2 Ultra also allows you to take 16-megapixel self-portraits without this wide-angle option.)

The very wide angle means that you can see more of your surroundings than with other cameras: more friends or a sweeping landscape, or maybe the hijinks behind you.

Some phones address the problem of overcrowded selfies by forcing them to take a three-panel view from the front shooter, which takes longer to set-up and shoot.

Image quality and solid performance are usually high points with Sony phones, but in recent years, the company has struggled to maintain its advantage over its rivals with bolder designs or lower price tags .

The three Xperia devices launch the Sony media line for 2018, with the X2 Ultra leading the top-end hardware, followed by the X2 and L2.

Finally, the fingerprint sensor & # 39; new & # 39; arrives at Xperia

In addition to sharing the same wide-angle front lens, many regions will also receive a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone, which is likely to become an accessory on future Xperia phones this year. If you know Sony phones, this location is a design change; the reader used to be integrated into the on / off button.

Here's something new: the finger unlock button will work in the USA. UU., Whereas before Sony deactivated it in the Xperia phones sold in the United States. Hallelujah!

The three phones will be sold in select markets at the end of January. Sony says it will announce prices closer to launch. Jump to the end to see the full specifications!
