The mysterious next project of Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding, has obtained a deeper (and intensely strange) advance. At The Game Awards, we take a look at an extended trailer that details the incredibly strange and chilling world of the next Kojima Productions project. Despite more context, there are still many questions to answer.
In the long 8-minute trailer, we're finally given some details about the madness behind Kojima's new game. With the character of Norman Reedus wearing clothes, a full-body suit with a robotic device resembling an eye attached to his shoulder, sneaks through a field full of bodies. With him is another man, who refers to the character of Reedus as "Sam". Eventually, the two men are surrounded by a substance similar to oil seen from previous trailers. The second man is holding a boat containing a baby, seen in previous trailers. Finally, the two men see another figure dressed in black, silently telling them to run, who disappears soon after.
Eventually, the second man is defeated by the black substance and is sequestered by large black tendrils. "Sam" takes the boat that the second man threw, and witnesses in the distance of a great giant, which consumes his companion. Shortly after, the character of Norman Reedus is in front of a black crater after falling unconscious. With only the boat, look into the distance and see five floating figures above the crater.
Before the end of the trailer, Norman Reedus reflects on the beginning of humanity from the first big bang, and if they will be able to survive after the next. From there, the trailer ends.
