The state of Portland releases the names of the officers on duty when the man died in custody

Portland State University published the name of the four service officers the night a homeless man died after being stopped near Southwest Sixth Avenue and Mill Street on Thanksgiving Day.

Campus police officer David Troppe and public safety officials Michael Anderson, Danae Murphy and Nichola Higbee are on paid administrative leave while officials investigate the death of Richard A. Barry, 52.

Portland state officials responded to calls about Barry around 8:19 p.m. and found it near the urban plaza of the university. The agents called Portland police for help after a fight with Barry. A Portland state officer was injured in the altercation, police said.

Officers at the scene called for an ambulance for Barry "based on his behavior," officials said. The records show that his most recent address was a shelter for the homeless.

The homicide detectives and the professional standards division of the Portland Police Bureau are investigating the incident. The two city police officers who are on duty that night are also on administrative leave.

The Multnomah County District Attorney will review the case and an internal review will also be submitted to the Police Review Board.

The Oregon state medical examiner's office began an autopsy on Friday, police said. They do not know when the investigation will be completed.
