As we reported for the first time on FridayThe state of Michigan released an alternative uniform with a green neon accent before its annual spring game on Saturday morning.
The uniform, to be worn during a late-night game this fall, presumably the confrontation with the state of Arizona on September 14, is traditional green with a large green "STATE" neon on the chest. The color has appeared in numerous alternative uniforms used by the basketball program since 2016.
The spartan decal on the green anodized aluminum hull, the Big Ten patch, the Nike trousers and pants are also neon green. However, the numeric font remains the same as the standard equipment uniform.
Michigan State has used a handful of alternative uniforms in the past, including a Pro Combat against Michigan in 2011; a helmet of chrome in 2012 and 2013; an alternative bronze uniform in 2015; and a white helmet in 2017, which was also used regularly last season.
Michigan State is in the fifth year of a 10-year clothing contract with Nike, which will award the program $ 33 million.
