LL Cool J says it's "an amazing and surprising moment" for a hip hop artist that Kennedy Center officials describe as the youngest recipient to win a prize at the Kennedy Center Honors .
The 49- a one-year hip hop artist made the comments when he and other honorees made their entrance to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts along the Potomac River.
He says there were many rappers and performers worthy of his generation, but he does not say that someone deserves this about him
Said, I quote: "I am humble, but I will not be pseudo humble, I am the only one!"
Honoree and badistants They begin arriving at the Kennedy Center in Washington for the 40th annual Kennedy Center Honors.
Among the first to walk the red carpet was the president of the Kenny Center, Deborah Rutter, who patiently sent out a questionnaire about a high-profile no-show.
President Donald Trump announced that he would not attend this year due to boycott threats from some of the honorees.  Rutter said the president's attendance is traditional and important, but he thanked the White House for avoiding a confrontation that would have overshadowed the ceremony.
This year, the Kennedy Center Honors will recognize some of the best performers and performers in the country, while skipping the political drama that had loomed over him in a divisive political atmosphere .
Television producer Norman Lear is a lifelong political activist who threatened to boycott his operation position for President Donald Trump. But a confrontation was avoided when Trump announced in August that he would not attend.
Rapper and actor LL Cool J and Lear are among the honorees this year. The 40th annual Kennedy Center honors ceremony on Sunday night will also pay homage to dancer and choreographer Carmen de Lavallade and musicians Lionel Richie and Gloria Estefan.
