The largest Tesla battery powered in Australia

Tesla has delivered the largest battery project in Australia within the deadline announced by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The 100-megawatt lithium-ion battery has been connected to an Australian state network, regional officials confirmed. In September, Tesla's CEO promised that a 100-megawatt battery project would be delivered within 100 days or the company will not charge anything for the project.

When the battery project began to feed the state network, the South Australian Prime Minister Jay Weatherill lead the region in the renewable energy segment, with mega battery. During the summer season in Australia, the demand for energy increases and leads to a blackout on many occasions. The battery has the capacity to power 30,000 homes for up to an hour during a severe power outage.

During a severe storm last year, South Australia suffered a major blackout. The region is very dependent on wind and solar energy. The powerful Tesla battery can be used to increase the supply during peak hours.

The battery is part of a $ 420 million plan announced in March by Weatherill to make the state independent of the country's grid. The cost of the battery has not been made public.

Tesla partnered with Neoen to build the battery, which is more than three times larger than the previous record holder in Mira Loma, California.
