The God of War cloth map hides a secret puzzle and treasure

God of War players have solved one of the densest and well-hidden riddles in the game, one that only the owners of the special physical edition could even discover in the first place. Deciphering a set of addresses found in the fabric map of the edition of Stone Mason led the community to find a reward they could never have had, if a player had not noticed the hidden clues to the naked eye.

Earlier today, a Reddit user went to the God of War forum with a request. YouTuber BRKsEDU suggested that the real-life cloth map included with your copy of the game was not just decorative: it had text written in runes that had been translated into English.

The son of Kratos Atreus mentions in the game that these runes can be translated; They are from the proto-Nordic runic alphabet, Eldar Futhark, as other players have already discovered. This is how BRKsEDU began what became a longer mission by transcribing the rest of the runes that dotted the edges of the cloth map.

The largest text block refers to the dwarves Brok and Sindri, who appear on the map in the game to sell Kratos items. Although the two are brothers, they are never seen together; according to the fabric map, it's because they had a big fall.

This is what the runic inscription on the left side of the map says:

The brilliant blacksmiths Brok and Sindri traveled through the lands of Midgard to create this great map for the giantess Faye, a mysterious treasure found in space between them at the end of their trip unfortunately for the brothers, the location of the treasure was instantly forgotten. Brok retraced his steps and blamed Sindri for losing the treasure. Sindri retraced his steps but knew it was Brok's fault that they could not find him. the treasure was never found and none of the brothers has spoken with the other since

Reddit's call for help led players to make impressive discoveries. First, they deduced the paths of Brok and Sindri, discovering where they should have traveled and, therefore, searching for space between them. That ends up being on either side of the Muspelheim Tower, which is located below the giant temple of Tyr.

The players followed the orders set at the top of the cloth map, also written in runes. They are the following:

To reveal the great treasure lie within the golden circle and look towards the tyrs temple now look towards the left brazier Look back to the tyrs temple aspect to the right brazier and back to the brazier left

I just looked at the left brazier now I look back at the temple of tyrs again now I look down at the floor and then I look up at the right brazier and then back to the left brazier and finally I look at the tyrs temple to reveal the treasure forgotten

The golden circle, based on where Brok and Sindri end, is in the Muspelheim Tower. Players must use the camera to quickly look at the aforementioned instructions to unlock that forgotten treasure.

After a few hours of trial and error, and teamwork, players unlocked their reward: a legendary ax called Forbidden Grip ages. The relic increases all of Kratos's stats and adds a concussion wave to the end of his R1 combo.

Here is all that in action :

Luckily. It sounds a lot, but most of the fieldwork is done; Even if you do not have that real fabric map, you should be able to go ahead and grab that treasure. But it's amazing to think that all that effort only took a few hours and a lot of perseverance and translation skills.
