The Fortnite Ice Storm Event begins after a mysterious orb has opened

Shortly after the release of Fortnite's 7.20 update earlier this week, players noticed that a mysterious icy sphere had appeared in the game above Polar Peak, leading to speculation that it would somehow be linked. with the imminent season 8. In the end, the sphere actually housed the Ice King, who now emerged and covered the entire island with an ice storm, starting a new event.

During a sequence in the game that took place on Saturday, the mysterious sphere burst open, revealing the Ice King, who evoked a snow storm that rolled over the island. Along with the storm came the Ice Demons, zombie-like monsters reminiscent of those that appeared during the Fortnitemares event in October. You can see a replay of the entire event below.

The Ice Storm event also brings a new set of challenges to complete. Over the next few days, Epic will launch new goals. Clean each one will reward you with XP, and at the end of six you will unlock a black and blue ice wrap. Players who complete the 13 Ice Storm challenges will also get a special reward: Winter's Thorn Glider.

We will round out the complete list of Ice Storm challenges as they become known, so be sure to review the entire event. If you need help completing some of Fortnite's other challenges, we also have tips on these in our Fortnite Season 7 challenge guide.

While the mystery of the ice sphere was apparently solved, some other unusual objects were recently seen in the game. The iceberg that was near Happy Hamlet was destroyed, revealing a mysterious bunker below. Players have also discovered strange giant eggs inside the prison cells below the Polar Peak castle. What this means is an badumption from anyone, but we probably do not have to wait too long to find out.
