According to Netflix, Ratched is a suspense drama series that tells the origin story of refugee nurse and notorious villain Mildred Ratched.
In 1947, Mildred arrived in Northern California in search of employment at a major psychiatric hospital where new and unresolved experiments on the human mind began.
The new trailer sees more of Mildred’s secret mission, as he begins work on several patients in an asylum.

Sharon Stone is once again seen with a monkey on her shoulder, as she plays the equally eccentric character Lenore Osgood.
Covey Stole also has a greater share as Charles Wainwright and Cynthia Nixon, as Gwendolyn Briggs. Judy Davis also serves as nurse Betsy Bucket.

Interestingly, in the 1975 film version starring Jack Nicholson, the controversial character was turned down by several prominent women, including Annie Bancroft, Angela Lansbury and Ellen Burstyn.
The role in the film eventually went to Louise Fletcher, who won the Oscar for Best Actress.

It appears that the show will be slightly darker in character than the book and film, as Sarah Paulson voiced that Mildred was taken away from her parents when she was very young.
“I was told that one day I would see him again, but that was a lie,” she says.
