The FAU goes back to North Texas, wins 41-17 in the C-USA Championship

The revival of Lane Kiffin does not end soon. Not after taking Florida Atlantic from a 3-9 final to 9-3 in a year. Not after becoming the second most winning coach in Owls' history after only one season and certainly not after lifting the Conference USA Championship trophy on Saturday.

The FAU's 41-17 victory over North Texas ensured that.

And when the time came for Kiffin to take his deserved bow, he turned aside.

"It's not about me," Kiffin said on ESPN as fans ran to the field in Boca Raton. "I'm very happy for our players and fans, it's a special year, these kids have been through a lot."

More than the presence in social networks and secondary antics, this is what Kiffin wants to highlight. Your players did not disappoint.

Running back Devin Singletary finished with 26 carries for 164 yards and three touchdowns, quarterback Jason Driskel completed 15 of 27 pbades for 269 yards and a touchdown, and Kalib Woods caught six receptions for 208 yards and a touchdown.

Kiffin's offensive wrinkles, however, were hypnotizing at times on Saturday. Early in the first quarter, FAU used a sweep action for a 49-yard run by Woods. On the next play they returned to the same movement but looked to pbad and found a simple 22-yard touchdown by John Franklin III.

The score could only have put FAU up 10-0 at that time, but it showed just how wide was the gap between the Owls and Mean Green.

North Texas could not be maintained exactly even when FAU tuned in to the deceptive moves.

In two meetings this season, FAU has overtaken the Mean Green 110 -48. The Owls should have added another seven points to that total, but when they got close to the end zone, John Franklin III lost the ball while celebrating.

Expectations only increase for FAU now. That puts more focus on Kiffin and his players. And that seems to be exactly where the coach wants it.

North Texas quarterback Mason Fine completed 28 of 44 pbades for 356 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in the loss. The Mean Green was only able to run 81 yards on 35 attempts as a team, including a touchdown.
