The local mom sends a message that daughters can be both female and athletic

Inspiring photos of a local mother have gone viral. Local photographer Heather Mitchell was baffled after a conversation in her 8-year-old daughter's softball practice. After Mitchell referred to his daughter, Paislee, as an athletic, another mother responded to Mitchell by saying that her daughter was a female child. The meeting prompted Mitchell to set up a photo shoot with his daughter to show that she could be athletic and feminine, or anything that was proposed. Mitchell posted his photos on his Facebook page with the title "Because you can do everything". Since then, it has been shared more than 180,000 times with more than 30,000 Facebook comments from people of all social classes. Mitchell hopes to encourage many with the message: "whatever life has thrown at you has no limits … you dream, if you think you can do it and work for it, you can do whatever you want."
