The demolition of houses lends itself to the joke of spiders, becomes viral on social networks

RENNER, S.D. – A demolition of houses in South Dakota became a joke that has been making the rounds in social networks.

According to the leader of Argus, Jeff Hopkins and his girlfriend Dawn Cronk decided to demolish a second house they had in Renner to make room for their grandchildren to have a place to play outside.

As a joke, Hopkins bought a can of spray paint at his local Walmart and his investment of 69 cents to make himself laugh quickly went viral.

Hopkins painted "Got the Spider!" on the roof of the shattered house. The drivers slowed down to take a look and laugh.

"I didn't think anyone would notice," Hopkins told leader Argus. "We did it just to make us laugh."

"It made someone smile for a day," Cronk told the newspaper. "It made someone stop and laugh for a few minutes and remember that life doesn't always have to be a hustle and bustle. For me, it's a blessing because we made someone smile and laugh about it."

It also had a collateral benefit. "It made people laugh for a second and made them slower to the speed limit," Hopkins told leader Argus.
