The club house is the social network Elon Musk has joined. Here are its plans

The clubhouse, the Buzzy audio-only social app, is looking at ways for its creators to monetize the platform, CEO Paul Davison told CNBC on Monday.

After making its debut last year, the clubhouse now costs around $ 1 billion and hosts more than 2 million users. Aadhaar is relatively simple, as there are no video, picture, or text-based chat rooms. Users will log into the app and be greeted with some live, virtual rooms, where they can see the list of people participating. If they click on the room, the audio turns on and they can hear the conversation. Think of Clubhouse as an app for live, unfiltered podcasts.

The app saw the biggest boom in the early days of Monday ET, when Tesla CEO Elon Musk joined the forum to discuss a range of topics.

The club house’s revenue scheme is similar to the model of the crowd-funding service Patrion, which allows independent creators to receive funding directly from their audiences. Patrian charges a small fee from those transactions, however, and it is unclear how much or how much the club house will take the subscription.

It also plays as a theme, which users of the social network have complained about. If a manufacturer cannot make money on a given platform, they are likely to transfer to another upon gaining traction. The clubhouse is placing a condition in its existence to attract more users by giving them a way to make money.

“There are a lot of incredible people who are smart, who are funny, who have domain expertise, who are really great at bringing people together,” Davison said in a “squawk box” interview. “And what we want to allow them to do is to live directly on the clubhouse through things like subscriptions and ticketed events and get suggestions from listeners who are happy to pay them directly for those experiences Which they are making for them. “

Currently, there is no way for users to pay for content directly through the app. The platform itself is free, and there is no advertising nor premium plan for users. Davison said on Monday that the club house plans to introduce some type of model “later instead.”
