A person who likes Mustangs and is part of the Mustang6G forums was in Chicago and found a Ford commercial filmed. The result of that coincidence is the blurred photo seen here that shows what appears to be a 2018 Mustang with the green paint of the highlands and black wheels made emblematic by Steve McQueen in the classic film Bullitt. Ford has manufactured a Bullitt Mustang before.
The first Bullitt Mustang was manufactured as a 2001 model and comes with special exhaust, a new intake and underdrive pulleys to increase power up to 268 HP officially. That car arrived in Dark Highland Green, black and True Blue, with the blue version being the least common. Ford took a step forward and did another Bullitt Mustangs race in 2008-2009.
These cars come with special Torq-thrust wheels, interior touches and gear ratios. That Bullitt package was an improvement of $ 3,310 from the basic Mustang GT that year. Now it seems that the Bullitt is ready to return in 2018.
There has not yet been any official news from Ford about this, but this picture clearly shows a car inspired by Bullitt. Many fans of that Bullitt movie have wanted a modern recreation of the movie.
The scene of the chase between McQueen and the bad guys who drive a Dodge Charger through the streets of San Francisco is widely viewed as the largest chase scene ever planned. With all the reboots of the franchise common in today's movie, it's surprising that Bullitt has not transformed into a kind of friends comedy with Will Ferrell playing Bullitt.
