Some of the prominent voices of the bitcoin community (and Facebook’s subsidiary Novi) are also hosting a bitcoin white paper.
The move has long followed the legal threats of Chief Scientist Craig Wright against the nonprofit hosting the basic documentation of crypto.
“Yesterday both Bitcoin.org and Bitcoincore.org received allegations of copyright infringement of Bitcoin Whitepar by lawyers representing Craig Steven Wright,” the nonprofit wrote on Thursday morning.
(Bitcoin was created by the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, who has not yet been conclusively identified; Wright has repeatedly claimed that he is Satoshi.)
In response to the takedown notice, a wave of crypto firms have published the white paper on their website. As of press time they include:
Others are likely to join.
The document has been uploaded to Arweave, a distributed platform for “permanent” file storage. It is also being done Stored On the “Uncensored Web” through the Interplenary File System (IFPS) and Ethereum Name Service (ENS).
Bitcoincore.org appears to have taken its copy of the white paper of bitcoin. However, the PDF is still live on Bitcoin.org.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
