The 49ers removed wide receiver Debo Samuel on the non-football injury list of 53 players before the cut as he felt he would be ready to play at any point in the first six weeks of the season.
On Saturday, the team announced that Samuel would not play for at least the first three weeks of the season. Samuel, who was returning from a broken leg while training at the office, was placed in the injured reserve and could not be activated until he was on the list for three weeks.
On Friday’s report, 49 people listed Brandon Ayuk as a suspect due to a hamstring injury. Kendrick Bourne, Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis and Richie James are set to play at receiver.
In addition to Samuel’s move, the Niners also announced that they promoted center Hronis Grasu and cornerback Donte Johnson from the practice squad. Center Ben Garland is listed as a suspect for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals and Jason Verrett is dismissed.
