According to a release from the School Office of Communications and Marketing, a total of 1,020 cases of coronovirus were reported at the university as of 8 September. 918 of them are students.

In a letter released on 8 September, Texas Tech President Lawrence Shovanek said the university had been met with a series of ‘challenges’ since it resumed classes two weeks earlier.

‘The classes of the first two weeks have presented their share of challenges. “Our plans have been tested, but I am proud of your students’ welfare and your attention,” Skovanek said in the release.

I know the challenges ahead await us as we continue to work through this epidemic. I am proud of our university community and the way you have supported each other. I deeply appreciate all you are doing.
