Familiar but new
A recent report Digitimes Apple says it is ready to launch AirPods 2 sometime in the first half of 2019, with some new health monitoring features and other improvements, such as wireless charging and Hey Siri support. The updates sound great and we're all excited to see what's next for the next generation of AirPods.
Wireless charging is coming to AirPods, and we know that, in fact, Phil Schiller announced the optional AirPods wireless charging case along with the AirPower charging platform at Apple's September 2017 event. If the wireless charging case will still be an optional purchase for original or next-generation AirPods, then the new version of AirPods will surely maintain the same factor as before.
In February 2018, rumors of a new pair of AirPods with Hey Siri support, better water resistance and an upgrade to the W2 chip emerged. A few months later, at the Apple September Event, we were shown a short clip from one of Apple's staff members who used the Hey Siri feature with AirPods and ran through a shallow pool of water at the new headquarters from Apple, suggesting better water resistance.

Surely we can expect these characteristics to come, and I personally believe that the new AirPods will have Bluetooth 5 and the W3 chip instead of W2, since the Apple Watch Series 4 already includes the W3 chip.
On Thursday, a configuration tool "Hey Siri" was discovered in the first beta version of iOS 12.2, which seems to confirm the addition of the function for AirPods, although it does not necessarily inform if it will work with the current generation or if a new iteration is required .
There have also been rumors about future AirPods earning active noise cancellation, but we have not heard much about that beyond whispers.
One big change expected for the next generation is the inclusion of health monitoring features.
Nearly two years ago, Apple applied for three patents titled "Headsets with Biometric Detection." A more recent disclosure is a patent that describes ways to allow a headset to fit more securely into the ear cbad, allowing it to have better contact with the skin.
Considering their content, these patents are probably intended for AirPods.

Given the existing patents, we can expect the integration of a photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor, the same one used in the Apple Watch to measure a user's heart rate.
Interestingly, the patents talked about a temperature sensor that can possibly detect both the user's core temperature and the ambient temperature. The patents also mentioned a sensor to measure oxygen levels in the blood, which can be useful for things like keeping track of your aerobic endurance.
The use of electrodes that can cooperatively measure several different biometric parameters, such as the galvanic response of the skin or the electrical activity of the heart, which is a different implementation of the same central technology used in the Apple Watch Series, was also alluded to. 4 to perform an electrocardiogram (ECG).
An ECG test with AirPods would simply measure the impulses that reach each ear and make sure they do not have irregularities.
But, of course, there is no guarantee that we will see this function in the next generation AirPods. Knowing Apple, the best sound quality is also likely.
The past is too good.
Now, with all those exciting features and updates coming to the new AirPods, what could be the biggest threat to your sales? Well, nothing less than Apple's current AirPods.
If you think, many people are extremely happy with their AirPods, and if they are already meeting their wireless hearing aid needs, why should I spend at least another $ 160 for an upgraded set?
The current version of Apple AirPods.
There is always something new that comes. You can always wait for the next version of something, but that is harder to wait if you do not have a set and do not know exactly when the next version will arrive.
There is excitement about the possibility of updating AirPods. However, when reality comes along and Apple announces the price of these new AirPods, many of the current owners of AirPods will have to decide if these new features will add enough value to their lives to make them. It's worth spending the money again.
It will probably be reduced to an individual trial if the health monitoring features are worthwhile.
