The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a potentially devastating loss early in Monday night's game in Cincinnati.
Pro Bowl linebacker Ryan Shazier, Pittsburgh's leading tackler, fell to the turf in the first quarter after attempting an uncomfortable tackle that seemed to involve the crown of his helmet.
The coaches worked for several minutes on Shazier, who was eventually tied to a board and taken off the field at Paul Brown Stadium.
Steelers players and coaches looked worried, and Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton offered encouragement to Shazier taken from the field.
The Steelers then said that Shazier was taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance. It was discarded for the rest of the game.
