The San Antonio Spurs announced their first official injury report after four positive coronavirus tests postponed four games and held the team in quarantine in Charlotte for nearly a week.
DeMar DeRozan is not with the team, and the four-time All-Star will be unavailable for San Antonio’s meeting with the Oklahoma City Thunder after his father passed away last Friday.
Rudy Gay, Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, Derrick White and Quinndary Weatherspoon will also not be available Wednesday according to league health and safety protocols.
LaMarcus Aldridge participated in practice today after missing the previous six games with a right hip flexor injury, and the Spurs will update their status tomorrow.
Silver and Black must line up eight players to be eligible to play, and they called up Luka Samanic and Tre Jones from the G League on Sunday in an apparent attempt to meet that mark.
Even if LaMarcus doesn’t fit in, Patty Mills, Dejounte Murray, Jakob Poeltl, Lonnie Walker IV, Trey Lyles, Drew Eubanks, Luka Samanic, Tre Jones and Keita Bates-Diop give them nine active players.
The Spurs were in the midst of playing their best basketball of the season before this sudden hiatus, so it will be fascinating to see how Coach Popovich handles rotations on his return to action.
