Space travel to the wormhole is possible, really very slow

Science in the 21st century is awesome-wWe have seen the first direct photos of a black hole and we have sent cheese to the moon. And today, scientists have confirmed that traveling through wormholes is really possible! It will simply … be very inefficient.

The study, conducted by Harvard and Stanford scientists, has shown that, yes, wormholes are real. These are tunnels in space that connect two distant locations with each other and through which it is possible to travel. However, it does not seem that it will be possible for humans to use them for pan-galactic adventures in the short term. From the study:

"It takes more time to go through these wormholes than to go directly, so they are not very useful for space travel." [Harvard physicist Daniel] Jafferis said. He will present his findings at the April 2019 meeting of the American Physical Society in Denver.

Pop culture would make us believe that traveling through a wormhole is quite instantaneous, a shortcut between the folds of the universe. That is, apparently, is not really the case.

But do not succumb to your disappointment yet, it is believed that these wormholes have a purpose beyond human travel. "The real importance of this work is in its relation to the problem of black hole information and the connections between gravity and quantum mechanics," Jafferis said.

To clarify, wormholes will be more important for black holes and quantum mechanics than for travel. The theory of Jafferis states that wormholes can be formed between two black holes that connect to a quantum level. Light could travel through the wormhole, and scientists could retrieve information about black holes from the transmission of light.

The data would be great and all, but if any scientist needs someone to go out and try wormhole trips, he would be a very willing participant.
