We're used to hearing positive comments about Switch from Xbox executive vice president of games, Phil Spencer, but Sony tends to be a bit more quiet when it comes to praising the competition. In a recent conversation with the game's informant, SIE's president, Shawn Layden, was unusually generous, not only mentioning Switch, but also Xbox One X, and apparently indicating Sony's future focus.
Sure, PS4 and PS4 Pro provide what, of course, we think is the best gaming experience, but the other consoles, like Switch, Xbox One X, or tablets or phones, there are great experiences in all this. What we have to do is recognize all that. We are not small ghettos of games that are not federated or aligned at all. We are all part of the same game community, we only do it through different doors. I believe that the future will be an extension of that metaphor. Your platform is not your hiding place. It's just your gateway for all these players.
While it is a lazy compliment at best, it is encouraging to see it. any recognition of games outside the Sony ecosystem, especially after the crossover of the cross game and Sony's refusal to play ball. The company is slowly changing the course to that, so I hope that in the future it will be more open to the community of players in general and the benefits that the multiplatform game offers to the players.
The interview covers many other topics, including Sony's decision to withdraw from E3 2019. It's worth reading.
