First of all, how dare you Sony?

In an interview apparently about his new movie Cherry, Tom Holland and Anthony and Joe Russo aka the Russo Brothers addressed the never-before-seen spider in the room: Tom Holland wasn’t exactly the Spiderman Sony wanted, according to the Russos. With great power comes great responsibility and, according to the Russo brothers, Sony he wasn’t sure he was taking on that particular responsibility.

In the interview with British GQ, the Russo brothers told how they had to fight for our patron saint of spoilers.

“We talked to Feige at Marvel about Holland and he got excited and then we went to Sony …” explains Joe. “And they said, ‘Let’s think about it for a minute.’ We could say that we were encountering resistance from Sony. So we brought [Holland] Back, we brought it back, we brought it back, and we were relentless in our quest to shove it down the throat of the studio that owns this IP. It all came down to a fight, but Sony kept dragging their feet … they were reluctant, nervous, to deliver something that could ultimately cost them hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions of dollars in the future. “

But the rest is history. Sony got discouraged and now we are approaching our third Tom Holland Spider-Man movie.
