Severe storm watch, tornado warning in effect for southern Minnesota


The alert was issued for eastern Clay County, northwest Otter Tail County, and southwest Becker County and remains in effect until 1:45 pm

A confirmed tornado was seen moving southeast at 1:07 pm near Cormorant, 14 miles southwest of Detroit Lakes, according to the NWS.

The tornado was expected to be near Cormorant around 1:15 pm, Dunvilla around 1:35 pm, Pelican Rapids around 1:40 pm, and Northwest Lida Lake around 1:45 pm

Anyone in the tornado area should take refuge immediately, either in a basement or in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.


The National Weather Service issued a severe storm alert for several counties in Minnesota.

The alert was issued for Gaylord MN, Winthrop MN and Gibbon MN and remains in effect until 2:45 pm

Another alert was issued for Pope County MN, Fairmount MN, Sherburn MN and Welcome MN until 3 pm


A severe storm alert has been issued for Gaylord MN, Nicollett MN and Lafayettee MN and will remain in effect until 3:15 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, anyone living on the path of the storm should calmly seek refuge within.

The alert was issued for Mankato, North Mankato and Skyline MN and remains in effect until 3:30 pm

A severe thunderstorm alert was issued in nine cities in southern Minnesota.

The alert was issued for Fairmont MN, Blue Earth MN, Winnebago MN, Owatonna Mn, Waseca MN and Eagle Lake MN, and will remain in effect until 4:15 p.m.

An alert will be issued for Albert Lea MN, Waseca MN and Blooming Prairie MN until 5 pm
