Seven killed in random attack outside Chinese school

A madman stabbed at least seven people – most visibly older women – according to state media and a report, in a suspected random knife attack in China.

State broadcaster CCTV reported that the suspect, identified only by his surname, Yang, was busted after early morning bloodshed outside a closed school in Cayuan, Liaoning Province.

CCTV says that the man started attacking people, including some who came out of the nearby bath. The victims also include seven injured people, such as a policeman who tried to stop him.

Most of the victims, who were not identified by the authorities, appeared to be middle-aged or elderly women, a woman named Liu told the South China Morning Post.

The Raiders “appeared in their 50s,” said Liu, who runs a nearby music studio.

“[The suspect] Just cut the throat with a knife. It was really terrible, ”he said.

“It is fortunate that the school is closed today. Otherwise there could have been more victims. “

Chinese law prohibits the sale and possession of firearms, but large-scale assaults with knives have become a dangerous problem.
